MEVIUS FINAL FANTASY is a brand-new smartphone RPG being released in Japan. Details on the title have been relatively few and far between for a number of weeks now. However, it seems that the title has resurfaced in the newest press in Japan. MEVIUS seeks to deliver an experience that is different to what fans have come to expect from the series.
The plot focuses around an amnesia stricken Warrior of Light, who has no idea of his past of future. He arrives in the land of Paramitia, a desolated land which the light of hope has abandoned. The confused warrior is guided by a mysterious voice to traverse through the land. Like FINAL FANTASY XIII-2, the protagonist also seems to have a Moogle that accompanies them on their journey.
Combat appears to be simple in style. The screen is tapped to execute attacks and other abilities. Mevius also seems to feature a job system, so far a Ranger and Black Mage have been revealed. The Ranger is more of a thief in style, dual-wielding daggers and performing quick, close-quarters moves. The Black Mage is a traditional Black Mage, low HP in reward for having poweful elemental spells.

MEVIUS FINAL FANTASY is currently planned for a 2015 release on iOS and Android smartphones in Japan. No word yet on whether or not this game will hit the Western mobile market.
